The Platte Valley Fire Protection District believes that most fires can be prevented
before they even start through proactive public education and preventive measures.
Our fire prevention division implements this
philosophy providing community fire prevention education, building inspections,
and new building/site plans review services.
Additionally, the district is available to stand-by
for live fire burns, such as agricultural burns, bonfires, old buildings/sheds, etc.
Live fire training is vital for training personnel
to quickly and effectively mitigate incidents involving fire. If you have an old
building, car, or other item you can donate for training use, please contact
the fire marshal or fire training officer.

Fire Marshal
The Platte Valley Fire Protection District
Fire Marshal is responsible for all building inspections, new construction plot
plan approval/recommendations, fire burn permits, and enforcing all applicable
laws with local law enforcement.
Additionally, all insurance related questions,
such as district ISO ratings and hydrant locations should be directed to the fire
marshal.
The Fire Marshal's position is volunteer (as is
the entire department) so please forward your inquiries, plans, and inspection requests
well in advance of your deadline to allow ample time for the fire marshal to accomodate
your needs.
The PVFPD Fire Marshal is Captain Dan Fahrenbruch.
He can be reached using the contact information found here.
Fire Prevention Education
Every year, the Platte Valley Fire Protection
District hosts a variety of educational courses designed to foster safe practices
in regards to both fire and medical situations.
Classes offered include: elementary-age fire
and emergency education, general fire prevention, fire extinguisher operation,
basic and advanced CPR, general first aid, and many more.
The majority of our school-age fire education
is conducted during fire prevention week in October and fire drills conducted
at local schools throughout the year.
All other courses are continually being scheduled and
offered at different times throughout the year. Please contact our education coordinator
or Fire Marshal to learn more about the dates and times of courses.
Firefighter/EMT Patty Horst is currently our
fire prevention education coordinator in conjunction with our fire marshal and
fire and medical training officers. You can reach Mrs. Horst by calling the
fire station main line and leaving a message if no one answers.
